Tour 1: George Eastman House Tour

Located on historic East Avenue in Rochester, the 12.5-acre museum site was the urban estate of George Eastman (1854-1932), founder of Eastman Kodak Company. Opened in 1949, the Museum includes Mr. Eastman's restored house and gardens, an archives building and research center, galleries, two theaters, and an education center. The Museum displays the art, technology, and impact of photography and motion pictures over 150 years, and interprets the life of Mr. Eastman, an influential industrialist and philanthropist. The tour will include the photographic archives and the George Eastman Collection. The tour is limited to the first 20 registrants. $5.50 registration fee

Tour 2: Baker-Cederberg Museum & Archives Tour

For over half a century, the Baker-Cederberg Museum and Archives has served as the repository of Rochester General's rich heritage.  Its collections include minute books of Rochester General's various boards from 1847 to present, scrapbooks, uniforms, memorabilia, and a 22,000-image photo collection.  (The Archives collection reflects the hospital's 150-year growth from the first board meeting to the present.) The tour will include an inside view of the Museum & Archives holdings relating to the history of medicine and nursing.

Tour 3: Archives of the Oak Hill Country Club Tour

Tour the Archives of the Oak Hill Country Club, located across the street from St. John Fisher College with Donald M. Kladstrup, Club Historian. This tour concerns the history, artifacts and people involved with Oak Hill since it’s founding in 1901. The Club maintains an extensive archive, and the tour will show how the archive can be used to promote the club and generate income against issues of staffing, funding and security. Particular attention will be paid to storage, retrieval and display.

From the East: Take Route 90 (NYS Thruway) to Exit 45.  Take Interstate 490 West to Exit 25, marked Fairport Road (31F).  Turn left onto Fairport Road and proceed West to the main entrance of St. John Fisher College.

From the West: Take Route 90 (NYS Thruway) to Exit 47, marked LeRoy. Take Interstate 490 East, marked Rochester, for approximately 25 miles to Exit 25, marked Fairport Road (31F).  Turn West onto Fairport Road and proceed to the main entrance of St. John Fisher College.

From the South: Take Route 17 to Interstate 390 North, to Interstate 590 North, to Interstate 490 East, to Exit 25, marked Fairport Road (31F).  Turn left onto Fairport Road and proceed West to the main entrance of St. John Fisher College. Main Entrance: The main entrance of the College is one-half mile from Interstate 490, at the traffic light where Route 31F (Fairport Road) meets Route 96 (East Avenue).

Registration: Registration for the conference and rooms will be in St. Basil Hall Lobby.

All of the conference sessions will be held in St. Basil Hall.

Lodging: Founders Hall, St. John Fisher College, a hotel-like dorm. Thirty-five rooms are reserved at $50.00 per night for single, $75.00 per night for double. The rooms are available on a first come, first serve basis. There is a $10.00 refundable key deposit. The rooms are not air-conditioned. Check-in begins at noon, Wednesday June 16th, at St. Basil Hall. Check will be at 5:00 PM Friday, June 18th. Guests must bring sleeping bags, sheets, pillows, towels & washcloths. NYAC cannot be responsible for finding roommates. You must find your own roommate. If you need accommodation for a physical disability please add a note to the registration form requesting an accessible room.

Luncheon Banquet: The Friday Lunch will be buffet style with vegetarian options. Please check the NYAC/LOAC website after June for 1 buffet choices. The web address is: http://www.ithaca.edu/library/archives/loac/. Lunch and dinner on Thursday are on your own in restaurants near the College or in Rochester.

Conference Fees The cost for the conference is $35/person. The LOAC membership fee is in addition to the conference fee and is required of all attendees. If you wish to join LOAC or remain a member without attending the conference, please send the registration form and a check for $5 to Geoff Williams at the address on the form.
